In A Hurry? Go Straight To The List

In this article I have gathered the best espresso machines under 200 dollars for this year.

Espresso machines let you enjoy that delicious Italian coffee at home for a fraction of the price of a coffee shop.

But espresso makers tend to be some of the most expensive additions to your kitchen. So I am here to give a few alternatives that will give you the best possible espresso for the money.

My Top Pick Overall was the Gevi 20 Bar Espresso Machine.

I first got into making my own espresso when I started working as a barista ( kinda comes with the job ). A few years later I decided that I wanted to make espresso at home as well.

My biggest hurdle was honestly finding an espresso machine that I could afford. So I have decided to make that step a bit easier for you guys and make this definitive list of espresso makers under 200.

Here is what this article will cover:

What should you look for in an espresso machine?

Bang for your buck

Espresso machines can be very expensive. Prices start at around 100 dollars and can go up to ridiculous levels. But more expensive does not always mean better. So pick a price point that fits you and go from there. Under 200 dollars would be my recommendation for a starter machine if you have a tight budget.

Ease of Use

To the untrained eye an espresso machine can look quite daunting. Even though it is a lot simpler than it first looks, I would suggest starting out with a machine that is simple to use and then work yourself up from there.

If you feel intimidated by traditional espresso making then machines that use capsules can be a great starting point.

Grinder Selection Over Machine Selection

The most important part is often forgotten when choosing your espresso making setup. The grinder. There is no simple answer here since what type of grinder you should use depends on your taste.

So do your own research into what grinder suits you, you can check online or just ask your local coffee shop what they use. When you know the burr size and shape you have the most important information.

Frothing

If you are into lattes and cappuccinos you need a machine that can do the frothing. I would suggest going for espresso machines that have a built-in stem or automatic frother. In this case your best friend is a powerful boiler since that will determine how well the machine handles frothing.

Preparation Time and Quantity

How much coffee do you want to make? When do you need it? How often?

These are questions you should be asking yourself before making a choice. I would say that most people will be satisfied with a single boiler or at maximum a small dual boiler. ‘

This all depends on lifestyle and purpose so as long as you have that down you are good to go.

Always one click away from espresso. With the Café Barista’s simple interface you don’t have to press 100 buttons to get your coffee.

Great for cappuccinos and lattes. No more playing guess games when making your favorite cappuccino or latte. Even though it’s arguable to say that this machine can compete with your favorite coffee shop. It certainly performs the best on this list when it comes to milk frothing.

Removable milk container. This is a feature I enjoy since you don’t have to worry about leaving milk out, just remove the container and throw it in the fridge.

Due to the milk container however the cleaning process can be a little complicated. Nonetheless given the fact that this is a machine for under 200 dollars I am quite impressed with some of the features and do recommend this one.

Why should you own an espresso machine?

#1 – Saves money

This is why I bought my first espresso machine, I was spending too much money at Starbucks. The initial investment is well worth it in the long run. If you buy an espresso machine for 200 dollars you will have saved that money in well under a year.

#2 – You can find the taste that is just right for you

There isn’t just AN espresso, there are a lot of different types of espresso and a bunch of variations for each one. Everything from the beans to the grind can make a big difference. That’s why owning an espresso machine is so great, you can search for your dream brew at  a fraction of the price you would pay at a coffee shop.

#3 – No more crappy coffee

No more disappointing cups of coffee. With an espresso machine you can get high quality coffee right in your kitchen.

It’s not only regular espresso, when you have access to great espresso at home you can mix and match to create any of your favorite coffee drinks right at home.
